I realise this may be contentious and that police officers may make up a significant number of forum members, but what exactly do the police do these days apart from processing speeding fines? There are so many cases reported recently of offences being reported which result in absolutely no reaction from the boys in blue that there really must be more than tabloid headlines at work.
Fairly recently, in a village not too far away from Attrick Towers, a householder managed to detain a scumbag who had broken into his house. The police turned up the day after! The householder meantime had no option other than to release said scumbag. It seems no further action has been taken. There are a miriad of anecdotes describing similar situations across the country which are reported in the media which apparently are allowed to slip into history without so much as an explanation from either our politicians or our chief constables.
Meanwhile, when was the last time you saw a police patrol on our streets? The perennial excuse of paperwork keeping them from policing is wearing a little thin.
And another thing (he ranted), I was stopped at a police road block recently due to an accident closing the road. Fair enough, I have no problem with that. Being in a strange area, I asked the copper which way I should head to get to my destination. The reply was, "I don't give a f""k, but you are not going through here". Is this really what our police precept pays for?
