I don't think that's true Mikey - I find a mirror look takes less time than a full shoulder look, just because you don't have to move your head as far. It therefore leaves you not looking ahead for a shorter time, which is useful for times when you'd like to see what's behind you but you're not about to make a maneuver.
Agree. I tend to flick a glance in mine every few seconds or so, just to keep an eye on what the rest of the world is up to, coupled with over-the-shoulder looks from time to time. If I'm working towards a manouveur or there's hazards about I go into drastic-overkill-looking-around mde.

Its all about opinions, I use one and its superb. Its great for picking out other quicker stealth riders who creep up behind you and overtake........

I use one on my road bike for both traffic and to try to put a spurt on if I spot stealth riders (usually buggers 20 years younger than me and much faster).

Still - always check over my shoulder - force of habit and a good one to have

Well, I'm not against mirrors on uprights, but for most people that I've seen with and without mirrors, they are simply not looking back often enough. It's a point well made during cycle instructor training.

Can't argue with that. I've not done any formal cycle training (well not since my cycling profficiency 30 years ago) but it was a point that was hammered home again and again when I was learning to ride a motorbike.

And something that's stuck with me.
