Oh, while I am in rant mode - if the media seem obsessed with making cyclists wear bob the builder hi-viz vests, then EVERY SINGLE driver involved in the recent fog crash down south should be forced to paint their vehicles day-glo
Not guaranteed to work. Hi-Vis pink Golf got hit on a roundabout near me.

How so? Your actions don't affect the bad driver's inaction surely?
I hear them coming, check mirror, shoulder check (so they know I am looking) mirror check again (have they slowed down, indicated, moved out?) If the answer is no to any or all of them I go into self-preservation mode.

Here for rides.
We need figures on how many cyclists are hit whilst wearing hi-viz.

Then we need to know why the offending driver (if at fault) didn't see them, and why not?
That would require investigation and follow up to all collision involving vulnerable road users, and a change to the view that these collisions are accidental.

Ive just invested in a rear fibre flare light after being worried bout not being seen in the dark/fog with the old lights......the other worry was being seen from different angles and this gives you visibility from 360 degrees......havent tried it yet but its extremely bright.....especially on flash mode theres no way you could miss it! Fog is generally pretty cold to cycle through so chances are Ill have my jacket on too which has reflective piping on the back that shows up in car lights pretty well. If its proper thick fog with only a few metres of visibility Im not sure what you could do to be totally safe!?

The fog was not cold this morning, I was wearing a short sleeve jersey and that was plenty warm.

I wore the nightvision jacket as I didn't wat to get soaked in the fine mizzle that was pretending to be fog this morning. 2 lights front and rear as usual one flash one steady .

drivers along Victoria Park Rd were less eager to try and nip past me , and I wasn't in any other road position than I normally am.

re Fibre Flares.
Make sure you grease where the rubber seals cover the strip. Water ingress does and will kill the light.

Are these fibre flares flexible?

I'm looking for something I can attach to the rear of my pannier, wrapping it horizontally around the rear.
