For the past 15 years I have lived and worked in the northwest of England and during that time met, fell in love with, and married a local English lass.

Due to unhappiness at Mrs SG's work she had been seeking employment elsewhere. This morning she got the news that she has been successful in her recent interview for a new job......... in Edinburgh.

I am of course delighted for her as it gives me the push to find new employment for myself and return to my homeland. At the same time I and nervous, apprehensive and sad as I hope to secure alternative employment as soon as possible to minimise our time apart whilst knowing that in doing so I will break the ties I have made in my time here.

At least my grown up kids, who both still live in Scotland, are happy

My friend from school moved up to Edinburgh a fair few years back and has a house in Penicuik now.

Been up a fair few times and it's nice up there, they come back down to York quite a bit as well.

Good luck in your search for a new role.

Edinburgh is a great city and has really got even better over the past few years with lots of new restaurants , bars, shops and entertainment venues.

Plus great riding in East Lothian, Midlothian and the Borders.
