It seems to be a common problem, every now and again my phone claims my charging accessory is a bit funked or similar, when in reality the port has fluff in it so the connection between charger and port isn't fully clicking in.

Cue much scratching with a needle to de-fluff it and hey presto its all good for a few months.

I've just ordered a port cover cap thingy from ebay. Lets see if that works...

Does anyone else suffer this or do I have extra fluffy pockets?

That is all.

Yes that was a problem for me when (most summers) I'm doing DIY or landscaping in the garden. My pocket gets full of earth and fluff, my phone sits in the pocket and next time you plug your charger in, it shoves dirt up into it. I've just got a new phone which is like a brick, but has a built in flap to cover the charging port. It's also IP7 waterproof apparently.

It definitely happens to other people too - I benefited from it 4 years ago!

I got my phone (Google Pixel 5) for £190 on ebay. The man selling it wanted £250 but I suggested that a faulty phone was not worth that much. (The microphone didn't work so he couldn't make calls.)

I had a hunch and took a punt. I was right - a minute or two of work with a pin and I had cleared the fluff that was blocking the recessed grille covering the microphone! :okay:

I used a plastic bristle cut from a stiff brush to clean the coaxial power socket on a phone. I've seen videos of people filling USB connectors with hot melt glue, then pulling it out with the fluff stuck to it. I know hot melt glue is pretty useless, and doesn't stick to anything, but that seems a rather high risk method to me. I have a couple of home-made miniature nozzles for the vacuum cleaner hose which are easy enough to make, but USB sockets aren't among the things I've used them for.

How do you make miniature nozzles? I sometimes wish I had a smaller nozzle for the vacuum cleaner.

I've heard tales of people ending up in A&E because they accidentally sat on the vacuum cleaner nozzle, just saying!
