I can see Mike Ashley hovering as we speak.

That'd be quite a sight for a fat Lard-O like Ashley.

Ritchie did look into a Tiawanese company building Bromptons some years ago, but hew was so appalled with the lack of quality control, he brought production back to the UK and spent the next few years working flat out to meet demand.
Mind you, the model with a Brommy in one of the advertising phots would have sold it for me - !

Certainly plenty of Taiwanese companies have little trouble manufacturing extemely high quality products such as Giant, Tern, etc. Some or the best designed and executed frames of all time come from those shores.

I suspect the manufacturers capable and willjng to produce the required level quality cost more than Andrew Ritchie was wanting to pay, making the question one of shekels rather than availability. Its not as if the current factory are making a particularly high quality produdct.

I suspect this may be the future for Brompton. Joseph kuosac could supply them with numerous quality parts. In fact, perhaps Brompton could produce the frame, and the rest of the parts could be bought in.
That solves it! Reduce the workforce, no need for an overpriced new factory and hey presto a better product to sell.
