Love a good speed awareness course. Thought I was on for the points as they don't run them in Scotland but as my offense was just south of the border I qualified to do it online.

A potentially usable day was interrupted by the school office calling about a nauseous daughter requiring collection. Winter is coming.

Speed awareness course completed

Got caught for one of those two years ago, after 43 years of driving (my own fault). Actually thought the course was OK, and the advice to stick the car in 2nd gear for 20mph and 3rd for 30mph works.

Speed awareness course completed, now catch up with actual work.

Later undecided, can’t decide if I need a 2.5 week taper or just 2 weeks

I resisted the temptation back in 2019 just after I bought The Panzer to to say 'Yep, I'm aware I was speeding, can I go now?' 🙂 Although it did have a few decent accidental tips about how to avoid getting caught again.

I just avoided one of those courses. I don’t know how… they nailed me doing 104 in a 60 Zone ( kph )

the law says they can seize your vehicle and crush it at 50 over, so it could have been worse.

the sad part is the sport bike was at home… I got busted in a Hyundai Accent.

When I was stopped for driving too slowly, they did not offer me a speed awareness course.

Long story short: I was driving at 29 miles an hour in a 60 mph area. The reason for my slow speed was that it was pub closing time, my route took me past several pubs, on an unlit road, and I was being dazzled by the head lights of the vehicle behind me.

They might have thought you'd just left one of the pubs and were driving slowly on account of having had a few 'refreshments'?

Felt ABS today - I think yesterday's efforts (albeit gentler than normal) took a bit of a toll, and the ole ticker has been jumping around rather today. Thankfully the rain arrived to reinforce my decision to stay in, and then a piano tuning kit arrived right on cue. (Don't worry, I'm not a complete novice trying to do this, with just an app and having watched a Youtube video).

Anyway, to cut a long story slightly shorter: I've got the 'family piano', which was bought new in the 1920s, which I took over from my mum in the 1980s, and I think it's only been tuned properly once since then, despite moving house three times (the last one being to France). Remarkably, it was still bearable, but definitely a bit twangy (technical term) on several notes. But most of the middle of the range was still pretty good, so reckoned I could tweak it from there without starting from scratch.

Bingo, I did. It's not perfect, but sooo much better. And now I'm reminded why I've always loved this piano so much. Good use of a rainy FABS day. Really ought to try recording Chopin's Raindrop Prelude, given it's tiddling down outside.

They probs did think that. I refrained from telling the Policeman that it was his headlights that were dazzling me. I had just left a pub on the other side of that town, but I had two soft drinks and some coffee.

I was once stopped a couple of days before Christmas, apparently after signalling a bit late turning right. Plod explained they were doing a crackdown in drinking and driving, and we'd just come out oof The Imperial in Exeter, and the car stank of beer (I was driving two friends home). Plod asked me if I'd been drinking, to which I replied I had ... [pause]... two pints of orange & lemonade. He didn't even breathalyse me (I've still never done one).
