Monday moving the mood towards a marvellous new year - maybe.

Mrs W doesn’t make Tartiflette with the Reblochon she makes Pela or Peila which uses steamed potatoes and doesn’t have ham in it.

In the end neither of my regular places had Reblochon, but they did have some different smoked 'tartiflette cheese', which feels nicely squidgy, for under 8 euros, so that's going to have to do. Tomorrow's job, but I'll parboil the spuds tonight so I don't burn my fingers when I slice them.

Chilly and hilly 85km ride done, now off to Embra to friends for dinner and booze. Offspring have all been turfed out and sent home.

Well, with Mum having stabilised, a difficult decision had to be made: we had our first family holiday in a year booked. After discussion with my brother, we decided to come away.

I'm not a huge fan of Tenerife, but when it comes to a tick box of what you'd want from a winter holiday, it fairly delivers. Not planning on going anywhere on 2 wheels, had a holiday here 17 years ago when we brought the bikes. Every day was pretty much: which way can we climb Tiede today?

pre work four and a bit miles were joined by 20 odd to hit just short of a marathon for the day, with a fair bit of trails - so happy
