According to yesterday's Daily mail , in it's first full year of production 88,660 Ford Mondeo's were registered in the UK and they claim only 332 or 0.36 % of those are left .

That many.

To be fair the Mondeo was introduced in 1993 (possibly they're counting 1994 for the first full year of registrations?), so that's 24 years ago.

Not many mass market cars survive that long.

I wonder how many of those left still have the slimline Ford pen that went in the centre console? ;)

Edit to add: Spotted an X reg Escort XR3 (not an XR3i) yesterday - not seen one of those for a very long time.

3/4s of landrovers built are still on the road, the rest made it home.

If you want to go into the jungle drive a landrover, if you want to get out again drive a Toyota.

Some parts of Oz the dibble recommend only Land Cruisers or Foresters. Landies are too flaky when your life depends on it.

Going back to Mondeos, surfing a few ford forms the sporty models like the Si, Si 4x4 and ST seem to be coveted, but many seem to require major welding to continue to live.
