Non cycling topic but I know some of you on here are also motorcyclists!

I am looking to buy a Ducati Monster sometime between now and next spring, has anyone had one? And if so what in particular should I look out for when searching for the right bike? What was your experience of it during your ownership?

Probably looking for a 620ie or 695 which will give me low insurance as it's just a toy for going out with my lad on mostly.

Provided it's red and it sounds like the gearbox is about to fall off, then it's usually in good working order...

I'm afraid I'm a Triumph man (formerly Honda until they apparently started basing their build quality on the standard set by Yugo), so I can't give you much more help than that. I've always been tempted by the Duke's though. Mostly because they look sexy, but I can't currently justify a second bike based purely on that (well *I* can, but my other half can't!).

Mrs CP had a Ducati Monster 600 in yellow.

Not the fastest bike on the planet, but she loved it's low seat/ease of handling and the noise it made.
