Sorry to be pedantic here but these lanes are in Salford, not Manchester hence why north Manchester routes aren't being improved as part of this work. And yes, there's far more to MediaCity and Salford Quays than the BBC, e.g. The Landing, The Greenhouse, ITV imminently on the Trafford side, the Lowry Outlet Mall, increasing numbers of restuarants etc. Plus, the media department of Salford University is now at MediaCity so students will need to get between the two campuses.
so only Salfordians are eligible to work there? If its such specific improvements, what's the incentive for those further afield to hop on their bike to get there?

I can't even begin to grasp what you mean. I'm simply explaining that it's Salford City Council undertaking the improvements which is why they don't extend outside of Salford. It's up to the other 9 Greater Manchester local authorities to improve cycle facilities elsewhere in the conurbation, as, I'm sure, is the aspiration.

If the improvements are being undertaken by Salford city council then they can only improve the areas within Salford, they have no responsibility for Manchester. Improvements there would have to be undertaken by Manchester city council.

fair do's. read and typed in a bit of a hurry and frustration at cruddy facilites regularly turning my tender parts to pate. Good on Salford but shame that anyone form further afield will have to choose to contend with their local c**p first if they wish to travel by bike and benefit from the good stuff going on round there.
