Just an update for peeps. Have done several trips carrying gear and have chopped and changed gear to suit my requirements. Full camping trip then its panniers and fork bags, if its using B&B or similar then I just use my carradice sqr bag. Now starting to plan a lejog for next yr, but not sure which way I'm doing it. Supported or unsupported, see what sage advise i get on here.

What's pros and cons of freestyle or B&B?
Spend money on kit or on B&B
Carry less weight
Have to plan ahead for B&B

60 years ago I did a lot of wild camping. Is it still possible?
On the other hand I haven't tried sleeping on the ground for a long time. Getting up again would be the real challenge

Wild camping in Scotland is ok but currently frowned upon elsewhere, however loads do it without consequences. My approach has always leave with what you came with. The only sign I've been camping is usually a flattened patch of grass.
