the needle isn't the painful bit though, its the part where they're pushing a relatively large amount of fluid into an area that shouldn't ideally have a large amount of fluid (except in nice organised capiliaries)
case in point, needle going in doesn't hurt all that bad, fluid starts to be injected nurse is asked "OMFG! IS IT SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE MY GODS DAMN TOE IS ON FIRE?!! IS THIS ANAESTHETIC OR NAPALM?!"
had the same reaction when i had the snip... although i tried not to jump around so much what with having a needle in my testicle...
