"Bad Day at Black Rock"

A western of sorts - but more about post-war America and the attitude to the Japanese.

Plus an amazing plot and acting. Highly recommended

watched flashback of a fool last night with daniel craig. excellent film if you were brought up in the 70's. very nostalgic and the roxy music lip synch scene was sublime.

LA Takedown - Michael Mann's study for Heat. Well worth a watch and better in many ways than Heat with a real Miami Vice feel to it.

There's a quirky Luc Besson film called "The last Battle" set in post apocolyptic world which I like, a little reminicent of a classic Boorman film; "Hell in the Pacific" though don't quote me it...

almost any Michael Mann film (he's currently the Great American Director). Manhunter is a great film, Heat is brilliant (despite Al Pacino's best efforts) and Miami Vice is extraordinary.

'To Live and Die in LA' by William Friedkin is a great movie, with one of the best car chases ever. And 'Driver' by Walter Hill is a stand-out movie, far better than anything else he ever did. And 'Heavens Gate' is still the classic case of a film damned by the critics but standing the test of time

Working Girl - Ignore the wafer thin plot and I just enjoy the three leads (Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver and Harrison Ford) interacting
Mallrats - Kevin Smiths 2nd, was marketed completely wrong and is a very funny romp with Ben Afleck playing a rather nasty man very easily
