Googling for owners clubs might yield something useful.

I found the FJ1200 owners club a friendly place - I was looking at purchasing another one at one stage but decided to make with my CB500. Sharing 2000 miles over eight years between two motor bikes doesn't justify an n+1 scenario on the motorbike front unless the +1 was a Guzzi V50 then the smiles per mile would quadruple.

Ukgser.com is a really good site, perhaps obviously aimed at BMW GS owners, but loads of good stuff to read re trips, tours etc. I actually have a GS again now, but still used to frequent the site when I rode a Honda CB1300S.

BCF - http://www.bikechatforums.com/ - this is probably the busiest 'general' site.
UKGSER - http://www.ukgser.com/forums/ - very good for touring and travelling info.

Otherwise i agree, best going for bike specific forums. Yanaha Fazer one was great in the early days when i last used it, Triumph Tiger forumites are very keen too. Hopefully you will find your own bike forum equally useful, depends what sort of info you need / want i suppose.

I'd not dismiss the specific owners site Mark, they are a goldmine of info if you have any issue with the bike.

You need to be a bit more specific as to the type of bike and not the make

I used to frequent the sv650 forum when I had a bike, I found them just a nuts/funny/helpful/argumentative as the peeps on this site, sv650's a good starter bike, a lot of them have since changed/up graded their bikes but still use the fourm HTH

Visordown used to be very good when I was into bikes but as everyone says the brand/model specific ones are normally very useful.
