A lot of equestrian places stock them but I did read a horse rider got fined for wearing one as she was considered to be impersonating a police officer. When I had my horse I steered clear of those as I thought they could be a little controversial.
Shirley to impersonate a police officer involves a bit more than black & white chequers and others dodgy eyesight? (I hope)

Well yes it should do! This was a few years ago and not long after they came on the market I'm not sure where the law stands with them now (not had a horse for a whole now) but apparently she got stopped by the police while riding and was asked to remove it and was issued with a fine I think she appealed it but I can't remember.

If you can still buy them then I guess it is ok to wear them?

Th is was an early, but effective method of achieving the "Stay Back" message:

I did a search on it and they were apparently invented by a police officer so I'd enjoy Mr plod trying that one on me and I'd also love him to show me any law or legislation regarding the wearing of chequers would make for quite a fun day . I mean its not like Pulling over motorists going ello ello ello what do we ave ere then sonny

Yeah I think he was mounted police? I guess it was lack of communication at the time as it was when they first went on the market. As I said they are still on sale so it must have all been sorted.

Made me giggle at the thought so that's good , but yeah I can see the confusion in the early days so can I buy flashing blue lights to complete the look lol

I got someone for that once.

Overtake and left hook on a roundabout into a "rat run"

Caught up with him about a mile had a half later stuck in traffic, so asked him why the stupid overtake.

He was full of the "shouldn't have been in my way attitude I suggested that perhaps the Police were the relevant people to deal with him. He then told me I would get nowhere because he was a Police Officer and would make sure that I "got done" if I reported it.

Dropped the video in the following day with a letter about the threats as well as the driving.

Turns out he wasn't a Police Officer at all, and after initially denying was shown the video of him claiming that he was.

Apparently "it was not something he would be doing again"

My dad has one of them polite notice think bike vests he uses on his motorbike in London. Apparently he has noticed less people cutting him up and the standard of driving has improved. Though this may be because his pan European is what the coppers used to use..

Similar thing happened to me many years back with a black 5 series BMW I chased after him with only half of my right pedal left (ally bear cage) but he wasn't stopping I'd nearly caught him when he hooked a left onto another main road' The gouge started at his front wheel arch, along both doors, continued all the way along the rear wing and finished with his bumper hanging off. That wasn't going to polish out! BTW he was a middle aged guy in shirt and tie with a suit jacket hanging from the hook above the rear seat so I doubt the car was stolen!
