Look how effective the mobile phone fine increase has been.

The comment section at the bottom leaves a lot to be desired.

I did have a bit of a day on Thursday with lots of close passes and I put it down to the heat but the truth is, some people will run over the top of you sooner than slow down for a few seconds.

I know that won't be popular as itsvthe kind of thing that discourages others, but that doesn't make it any less true.

In my county there are 3 - that is three - dedicated 'traffic'officers, and they spend most of their days dealing with major accidents and such like so don't get the opportunity to roam the streets looking for motorists to victimise.

A law with no one to enforce it is a waste of time.

There have been a number of drivers prosecuted for close passes, although it seems to be mainly because of video evidence submitted by cyclists.

Aiui mobile phone usage is coming down, isn't it? The keys are awareness and something being recognised as antisocial, given the absence of enforcement.
