Motorists using cycle path to avoid roadworks

[matticus]

I am no longer surprised by the behaviour of UK drivers:

[MODS: feel free to move to "Motoring" if you see fit! x ]

Driving a motor vehicle In a public place other than on a road. Should be a banning offence.

Indeed, a minimum of a year ban for first offence.

A quick look at the map shows the diversion is 20 miles ! I think they should've come up with a better plan.

I think the roadworks are further west at Penpoint according to the article ?

[MontyVeda]

same thing happened in Lancaster a couple of years ago... people driving along the bay cycleway route from the end of the quay to Aldcliffe. I think a police car parked up each morning put a stop to it

You can see exactly where they are on sites like one.network. Diverting no big deal.

They need to put a lamp post in the middle of it like all the other cycle paths.
