But he also wasn't going to do a Max into the first corner and risk the car.

I felt he had more pace if he needed it
when they asked Piastri to speed up to reduce the dirty air for Lando then they could both manage it

I reckon Oscar was at his limit then otherwise he might have tried to catch Max

but Lando was better off keeping it sensible and just staying where he was and not risking getting back into dirty air and getting a sudden drop in grip on a corner and going off

In any case - he won and that is all that counts

So, with Newey gone and now Marko leaving, what fate for Red Bull Racing?

I guess that depends on how they fare with the new formula. A lot of team principals could be a feeling a bit squeaky bum over their job prospects of their teams turn out to have have dropped a testicle with the design, and Horner will be circling like a smarmy shark.

Good to see Marko finally go - looks like he went before he got pushed. But really, that meddling retrogade mastodon should have been put out to pasture years ago.

Yes, he "found" Verstappen and Vettel, but how many careers has he ruined in the mean time? His latest casualty is Alex Dunne, who he poached from McLaren against the wishes of the management, and who the team have now had to pay off to leave. The consequence of which is that Alex currently has no drive lined up.

Good riddance Helmut. Off you trot.

There are rumours in the press that Oscar Piastri is looking for an out clause from McLaren...

The supposed reason is the perceived favouritism within the Team for Norris,

The daily wail

Discus - Should Pisastri feel hard done by?

That can be because he is looking for a better deal where he is
or he might be just seeing what he might get offered on the quiet by someone else is he just might move - possibly just to use to get more from McLaren
or he might have seen something about next year's car that he thinks is not going to work
or he migth

well anything - and it could all be rubbish

or it might even just be McLaren keeping their name in the press

Unnecessarily making him give the place back Norris at Monza, when Piastri himself was skmething like 28 points ahead at the time, simply because Norris had a slow stop was a bit wrong I suppose. No favours we know of ever went Piastri's way in a similar manner...that we know of.

I dont think there was a concerted campaign to favour Norris, but the teams handling of such matters was inconsistent and ended up favouring Norris to the point where the points he regained won him the championship, so I can understand his disquiet. Piastri was well aheadnjnnthe championship at that point andnthe team had no way of knowing thst team order would win Norris the championship, so it was completely illogical. Who really knows? I don't.

Certainly the much vaunted papaya rules dont seem tk be written down and are flexible enough to suit the whim of the team management at any given moment.

Where would he go though? I guess any team could float to the top with the new regs but I’d think that it would be Merc or RB in the running - I’d love to see Ferrari come good but Ferrari gonna Ferrari. Aston Martin…?
