So will Horner be team manager?

To nobody's great surprise, Cadillac have formally confirmed Bottas & Perez as the drivers for their 2026 F1 debut.

Currently watching tonight's episode of "Bangers & Cash" and they've just sold a trailer pump for a fire engine. That's fitted with a Coventry Climax engine. Yep - the same ones fitted to the Coopers of the same era.
Nice little nerdy spot.![]()
There is still Alpine, although Horner’s future in F1 may be wrapped up in whatever agreement he made with RBR on departure.
And the Hillman Imps.. (tbf, i had NO idea the CC engines were fitted to Coopers)
Well, that's probably decided the championship. How long before the conspiracy theorists start chuntering on about that one.
Mind you, prior to that he'd made a rookie error in allowing Max to pass. Sure, he regained then plade seven laps later, but that's a mistake he can't afford to make, time he shouldn't be wasting, if he wants a championship of his own.
Meanwhile Piastri was peerless. Fast, steady, in perfect zen like control throughout.
And brilliant work from Hadjar, who has quietly become the rookie to watch. Let's hope they dont reward the poor lad with a seat at Red Bull.
They've gone well beyond making a car to suit max. If they'd stuck to doing that they'd probably be fine, but...
They've gone down a rabbit hole the last 2 years with a car that is mathematically fast in simulation, but is a nightmare for anyone to drive because the feedback is all wrong.
Its the same problem McLaren were struggling with a couple of years back, albeit they suffered nowhere near as severely.
Max does better in it because simply hes the the more gifted driver, not besause it was designed around him - its the last thing he wants to be driving and thats a development route theyll never try again.
No point having a super-fast car if no one can master it, so next year you can be sure theyll definitely design a car for Max, and because it behaves and responds conventionally their second driver is liable to be much closer to the front.
Thats the position they were in when Perez was first signed and the car was definitely designed to suit the wunderkind, and the direction they've taken since has overwhelmed Perez and cost Max a 5th consecutive title.
