The new rules have really spread the grid out , everyone below 4th was lapped at least once.

A bit like the good old bad days of the 1980s.

To be fair, any major rules shake up in any category of motor racing (except perhaps single make / spec) tends to spread the field out at first. Some engineering teams will have a better interpretation of those rules, and that'll be the case until everyone gets their heads around it.

Though in this case, McLaren had a shocker, Russell had a mechanical and Hadjar had a mechanical. Take those out, and the disparity between teams is more noticeable.

That ding-dong battle between the Mercs was something else.

And the Max/Lewis battle was good too.

Always look forward to it but it must be frustrating for the drivers especially the ones that end up stuck behind someone on certain parts of the track in traffic
