Hopefully this weekend made up for it!

Talking about next year's Silverstone WEC.

And if I get asked to judge or steward, I will, of necessity, be at Stoneleigh. (Supreme = cat version of Crufts)

ah I see, my mistake, I suspect the ticket pricing will be alot more F1 like, than what people remember for WEC races of old.

I had an early bird email offer from Silverstone when they announced the meeting last week - the full 3 day weekend ticket set me back £95, individual days were Friday £35, Saturday £50, Sunday £70. Expect something similar or a little bit higher when they go on general sale on Tuesday.

For comparison, the ELMS 4hr race (LMP2, LMP3 & GT3s) ticket for September was £35 for the weekend while the BTCC will set you back £60 for the weekend now.

Yeah. I'd guess about 20% more on general sale tickets. By the time you add fuel and / or accommodation, ouch.

Saturday night Travelodge just over £60 with breakfast and £50-£60 fuel for me. People on a motorsport forum keep going on about €70 for the Spa weekend ticket, but you've still got all the associated travel costs on top of that.

As it's a 6 hour race, I'm looking at it as £15 per hour entertainment for the race with Saturday thrown in for £5. Compare that to the hourly cost for other sports such as attending a football match.

Dad's 750cc quarter mile bike.

Around 1973 perhaps I lived on a mothballed RAF airbase and one weekend, the Vintage Motorcycle club rolled up and used the runway for timetrials.
You cant imagine (you probably can tbf) the excitement this gave us, walking around , right in the middle of the noise, the smells, the speed...those guys were NUTS

It also equates to about seven weeks' worth (or so) of groceries...

Top division footy is eyewatering to get in. I'm more of a non-league gal when I do go.
