Mountain Bike for around £300 or just over? (Confused)

Basically, I have been waiting for ages to buy a new bike.

I have done quite a bit of research and have been told to make sure I avoid XCT forks if I can and get hydraulic brakes?

The Voodoo Bantu at halfords (on a offer) has afaik, an okay front fork and hydraulic brakes.

I read somewhere an outstanding review on the Calibre bike, going to be looking myself at a MTB and see what all the fuss is about.
