Mountain bike

Hi all,

Been a while since I posted on here!

Since last year a lot has happened, I somehow ended up picking up an AWFUL 2nd hand Apollo Feud, which I will be selling tomorrow for profit! Haha!

Since I picked up the awful Feud, I also sold by beloved Carrera Virtuoso which took me from London to Brighton and 3/4 of the way up Ditchling beacon (ran out of gears)... the replacement?... Well I picked myself up a Specialized Tarmac SL2 for a bargain price

The advice I need is a £200 ish mountain bike, I would love a hybrid, but fear it won't handle my local woods ride with the wife in summer. One crunch over a trunk and game over!

Been looking at B'twin Rockrider 500, or something with disc brakes.

Recommendations?

A £200 new bike isn't going to amaze you. Why not go second hand? I have mountain bike with a frame of double-butted Tange loveliness in the bike shed that cost me £30. And another single butted one fitted with drop bars and slicks that was £26.

If it's just for pottering about the woods, do you need any suspension?

Second hand certainly an option - nothing close by of any decent quality though

Been digging around - sold my Apollo for £50 (thank the lord someone actually wanted that!)
