Night Train

Maker of Things
When hypothermia sets in you stop shivering and start removing clothing as the brain's survival instinct has shut down.

Often victims are found dead by rescuers following a trail of clothes in the snow.

We've seen a plump elderly woman in a summer frock and sandals struggling across the summit snowfield of Ben Nevis, carrying a Tesco bag. Then on the way down a young woman trying to walk down in high-heeled sandals, crying because her feet were killing her.

Equally amazing was when out MTBing and we came across four Muslim women in full black burkas wandering around on the top of Pendle Hill. Some people are feckin' determined, you've got to admit.

They might have removed the jacket to huddle together under it. It isn't a person falling, I'm pretty sure.

I've leafed through the Mountain Rescue logbook in Derwentwater - they rescue an awful lot of idiots who think that a mobile phone is all the equipment they need.

I think there is a break in the video as the time in the bottom right jumps. AFAR they can only lift one person plus the winchman or two casualties together in a double strop sans winchman, although this is normally if they are doing a large evacuation off a boat.

I suspect this is the second man being lifted and he has not had hold of his jacket properly. Once they are in the hover they get people up as quickly as they can as its a dangerous position to be in, especially as the casualties are on the edge of a drop and not roped on.
The winchman has probably told the bloke to put his hands by his sides and he's dropped his coat in the desire not to fall out of the strop.

Looks weird the first couple of views though.

Heres hoping they have a quite day tomorrow

Watched this carefully .... and here is my interpretation

I think the two hikers had put a jacket under them to stop themselves getting any wetter and colder. You can see the arm flapping. When they get up it is no longer secured and is blown away.

That's how I saw it too. Although I wish it was a baby elephant:sad:
