Just got in this afternoon and found some mice droppings,I have some traps But does anybody know what would be best to entrap the little fookers.

What can i lace the traps with?

Try bacon rind or (seriously), chocolate.

Peanut butter and/or pesto works well for us.

Remember to put the traps close to a wall and in as much seclusion as possible so the mouse feels comfortable taking the food.

OT: Don't try and kill a mouse with a set of bathroom scales (as I did) as they are hard to squash!

Excellent advice just altering traps next to the wall

Thanks

When I had the little scampering feck's at my old house they would willingly lay down there lives for a go on some dairy milk.. They love the smell of it apparently:wacko::laugh:

or for a more permanent and less messy solution, try an electric rodent repeller - they plug into a socket and transmit a noise that's inaudible to humans (and cats). I got one when I had a little four legged visitor and couple of year ago and I've never seen any sign of it since.

Chocolate is good, raisins also work well. They tend to follow the walls so put the trap facing into the wall. Also, sit the trap on a piece of card or something or you might get blood on the floor! In their death throws they can chuck the trap several feet though, they don't always die instantly. If it's a weak trap it may just smash their snout or pin them across the shoulders. You can buy traps which are contained within plastic boxes, kind of sanitizes things a little.

Depending on how the trap is made, some trigger when the food platform is pushed down and others when it is pulled up. Don't ask me why but he ones that pull up to trigger work the best. You can sometimes bend the retaining pin on push-trigger ones into a hook so they work as pull-trigger. Set the trap so that the slightest touch sets it off.

Very soft foods are best avoided as mice are very stealthy critters and can easily pick all of the butter off a trap without setting it off. Use something they'll need to pull at and stick it firmly to the trigger.

Renovated an old house, killed a sh** load of mice! ;0)

We've had one for a few years and its worked pretty well - though it took a few weeks for the mice to disappear altogether.

come on people, every one knows that you get some steel wheel nuts, paint them yellow and add some cheese scent... then you lie in wait with a strong ACME magnet!
