OK, I'm pretty new to cross country riding but here are the terrain descriptions I've worked out so far...

"Cross the boggy section"
Keep a firm hold on the bars because if you let go you'll never see your bike again. Don't you wish you'd left some dry shoes and socks in the car now?

"Cross the stream"
Don't even bother looking for a bridge. Anyway your feet are already wet from the bog.

"Rocky slopes"
You're about to fall off onto rocks.

"Single track across slate"
You're about to fall off onto sharp rocks.

"Narrow Moorland Track"
You're about to fall off into sheep shoot.

Additions welcomed.

LOL, yes that's very much as we get up here in the Lake District.

When we go out up the fells, folk say, "how comes the ground is wetter up here than down there, shouldn't the water have run down by now"

this was on a road, between Wigton and Silloth give or take:-

and here's your "Cross a stream" at Crummock lake
