MP3 Player with Bluetooth Recommendations

It looks like progress has caught up with my iPod Classic. It does everything I want apart from Bluetooth. I can connect it to the new company car with a cable but only via the Auxiliary function. Sound and volume is terrible and I am not willing to use the device to search for what I want.

I have even tried a cheap Bluetooth transmitter. The car says it connected but when I try to play anything it says that the connection isn't complete. I don't want to get a better transmitter in case that is the same.

What do people recommend? I certainly don't want to spend a lot and I would rather avoid fruit based products this time. Whatever I get will stay in the car as there isn't much wrong with the Classic. TIA.
