As an ex open reach engineer I have never heard of this before . I can only presume your parents have there broadband connected in the exchange rather than the green box an openreach are turning off the exchange and sky have no ports (DSLAM) available to them in said green box ,if the broadband was connected in the green box then nothing would need to alter

I don't know. I've exhausted every option with Sky, I'm sick of phoning them. Openreach a company you cannot access via email or phone etc which is ridiculous. Every option ends with message "contact your provider".

I manage the SKY account for my elderly parents. I've had an email saying in Aug the Sky Talk/Broadband will need to change to digital service as old copper system being changed out. However, Sky say there is no connection to house for full fibre but I know Openreach are upgrading in area and if I do a postcode check it shows as available. Multiple calls to Sky no help as they say they have no availabilty in system and it's down to Openreach. However, no way to contact Openreach and all online searches on their site say to go to broadband provider, ie SKY!
So I'm going around in circles with no way of resolving this and in Aug my parents will lose broandband which is needed as I have cctv in thier house to keep eye on them for safety. My parents have Sky specifically for the tv which will still work after august as that is via dish.

My question is has anyone had this situation and if so how did you resolve it?

Tell Sky your 'elderly' parents may need an emergency 'fall alarm' soon, these do not work on full fibre systems* but need a copper wire connection.

* Power outages cause the router to stop working so no telephone hence 24hr access to aid not guaranteed

Openreach just do the infrastructure. Not a consumer facing company. As they state, contact an ISP to get it moved over to the new setup.

Tell Sky you wish to cancel the contract. They are renowned for reducing prices when threatened with this so they may suddenly be able to resolve the problem if they think they are going to lose your custom.

Exactly this. Sky say internet providers are allocated so many slots in an exchange and they are adamant there are none available to them and they themselves have said my only option now to have internet at the property is to go to another provider. Which I will do.

As for Sky email this is it:

The broadband network in your area is being upgraded as part of the national network upgrade. Your current Broadband and Talk service — which is delivered through an old copper network — will need to be switched off from August 2026. To stay connected, you’ll need to move to a Sky Broadband and Talk service on the new technology.
Tell them, OK, let's move over to the new technology, when is the engineer coming? ^_^
Did they say how much the new services are going to cost? Is it going to be a new contract?
Tbh, I would just go with another provider (Virgin? Zen?) and get your parents a subscription for their favorite TV channels.
