So far, I've been cycling in normal sports clothes, so I've just had my MP3 player (/phone) in my pocket, the the headphone wire going up the insider of my t-shirt. But now I've got myself some proper cycling shorts and tops, and realised that there's nowhere to put it that's convenient. I can always wear my sports shorts over the cycling shorts, but I was wondering what other people did.

Put the MP3 in the back pocket and then loop the cable under the shirt and then up the inside. Routing the cable is easier with a full length zip and at this time of year it is typically a cycling jacket.

Cycling while wearing headphones as a separate point has been done to death on here. Let's just answer the question rather than debate the rights and wrongs for a change!

If no clip on the MP3 (or appropriate case), then pop it in the back pocket and then loop the cable under your jersey as Gavintc states. Some jerseys now actually come with cable routing holes for MP3/race radios etc.

Not while cycling, I hope.

I'll try the back pocket thing, thanks. Seems like it'd be a bit uncomfortable though. And of course I keep it low enough to still hear traffic easily (and even then, only once I'm out of the city and onto the highway, on which the cyclists and motorbikes are separated from the bigger vehicles).

Here we go again...
I hope not.

To try and prevent the explosion in demand for popcorn, we have a forum for people who wish to discuss the pros and cons of listening to music whilst cycling. Please keep this thread on track and respond only to the questions asked in the OP and take the need to debate over there.

A good suggestion, I use one for keys etc, but I'd recommend only using one which has an effective safety-break so it opens rather than snags, just in case.
