Put the BAs on and went for a spin - all seems well and good. A bit quieter and a bit faster on the flats. Comfort wise I'd say they are about the same as the Land Cruisers (ie good) but I'm still experimenting with pressures...

If you intend to go remotely off road the LCs are a safe bet - I've had some slippery moments on the 20inch BAs on my Speed P8.

I finally got the Big Apples fitted today, bought them two weeks ago but thought I'd wait until the threat of immediate snow had receded.

They look nice I must say and a quick ride up my road and back (no time to do more) showed me that they do feel a bit smoother. My first commute in them will tell me more.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

What size did you go for in the end?

Changing to Marathons from knobblies on my MTB shortly after starting to use it for commuting made a tremendous positive difference in effort, speed, etc. They're good on the rutted country lanes round my way, too.
That said, I have to agree with the earlier post that said that 1.75s look silly on an MTB.

The 2.15s do look big, but not outlandishly so, and more of a rounded profile than the average MTB tyre. I'm glad I didn't go for the 2.3s though, they would have been completely OTT

Pictures please!!!

TBH the contact patch is bigger on the BAs compared to the Land Cruisers but I can go just as fast... BAs look cooler though ;D

OK, sorry, remind me later today and I'll take some. Just have to wash and polish the bike first!

Seriously, yes I will, this evening when I get home if I remember.

They are seriously good tyres! First proper commute on them this morning and the bike fair glided along it did! Everything felt so much more effortless and I achieved a huge speed increase. I was easily doing 4 mph more than on the knobblies and the bumps were being ironed out nicely.

Very cool and a good investment for me.

Take the bike indoors!!! Photos...now.

With a white carpet in the hall and dining room?

I already got shot a few months ago for an oil stain that mysteriously appeared on the carpet just inside the front door! None of my protestations of innocence were taken notice of. :becool:

M+ would have chewed that up and spat it back out again, call that a screw?;)
No seriously, doubt if even the mighty M+ could have coped with that.

I thought M+ could only handle something as long as a thumbtack?

If there's anything positive to take away from the experience it's that the BAs can be removed very easily, the whole process took minutes - impressed myself as I've not had a "visitation" in over five years - (although plenty of tyre swapping in the back yard lately).
