MTB on a Tacx Magnetic Trainer

I've been asked by a mate if they can you use a MTB with a Tacx trainer like this one...

I have a Tacx and for my roadie I bought a special orange Continental tyre as the roller shredded mine. So new tyre?

Will the width of the MTB tyre snag on the magnet housing (?) next to the roller?

Will the knobbly tyres run smoothly on the roller?

Anything else?

Dear God, no. Put a (narrow) 26" slick tyre on!

I know. I wouldn't mind but this mate is "in-between" jobs at the mo! He's in training for off-road C2C and the Alps.
