The Kona is easily the best equipped, xt shifters, mavic wheelset, etc.... They are all fairly similar geometry wise. Personally, it would be between the Kona and Genesis and like you I like the idea of the steel Genesis and I like it's looks. I don't think you'd regret buying any of them though.

It's really hard. I prefer the look of the Genesis, but as you say the Kona is better equipped - and that should trump looks.
Specifically, I'm not a big fan of the colour. How much is a respray?

Oh, for the Kona, they don't have a 20" frame - only 18" or 22". The 22" is £100 more, so do you think the 18" would be OK, or would it be too small? I'm 6'3"

How much does it cost to Oldham?

'09 Kona much more than £100 better than '11 Spesh.

I like the old skool looks of both the Charge and the Genesis, but I'd be buying the Kona and an on-one frame if it were my money.....

Tricky.... I've owned an 18" kona at 6' 2" and have a 19" SS kona at the moment, but an 20"+ on Spesh and Boardman. Horses for courses but I'd worry the 18" might be a little cramped; but depends on riding style.

All the size charts point you at 19 to 21 inches. Without knowing you, I'd advise taking that advice unless you know yourself that you prefer a certain position. I wouldn't go too big, as on a mtn bike you need to be centred more, so you can shift your weight forward or backward. The last thing you want is to be too stretched to get your weight back on a drop off or steep downhill. That's my experience anyway but I freely admit I'm not the worlds greatest mtn biker.

Or even worse need to put both feet down and catch your plums.

I guess that rules out the Kona then. Shame.
