What is everyones opinion of the Muddyfox range of cycle clothing sold at sports direct. Is it good value for money fo rsomeone like myself who is new to the hobby or is it money best saved for garments of more quality?

Treat it as middle to bottom end.
Knowing what you are buying works.

I wear some of the jerseys as under-layers when it's cold. The cut isn't great and I find it is generally a bit baggy, but it serves a purpose and works sufficiently as layers underneath a higher quality jersey. They might look a bit odd as your only upper layer due to the odd sizing/cut etc, but it would work fine.

I've also tried the tights/longs, which I found to be a much better fit than the jerseys, although the padding isn't anything to write home about. Alright when worn with a pair of quality shorts.

The stuff I've used seems to have lasted fine, although you get what you pay for, and I'm sure it'll wear out before my much higher quality club jersey for example. If you're strapped for cash it will work fine, but you might be better off buying something like DHB kit from Wiggle.

Ill have a look at wiggle it seems really good and have seen it mentioned quite a few times, in terms of odd sizing with the SD stuff is it usually best to go a size up or down

Bought a muddyfox top and shorts when I first started. They were crap, basically. I would definitely recommend dhb stuff from wiggle. Top quality at a reasonable price.

ive got some shorts, and bib tights from there, but if you have any muscle on your legs, id go a size higher than you normally are. Got a large pair, and cant even get them fully up my legs. But the XL bib tights fit well.

Most of my stuff is muddy fox and as has been mentioned its not the best, but for the price I think it's ok. I was just starting out and not certain if I would stick to it so didn't want to break the bank. It all fits me ok, tops are not overt fitted but ok.

I have a fair bit of Karrimoor kit, which was the forerunner to the Muddy Fox range. For a very big (posh way of saying fat) person it was one of a very few makes that made kit big enough. Muddy Fox seems to have shrunk the sizes and no longer cater for the very big people.

I've got a couple of jerseys and a pair of baggy MTB shorts. For the money it is good but as said its middle to bottom of the range. You so tell this when you buy a premium brand jersey etc

The tops I use for under layers in the cold. MTB shorts commuting in summer. The shorts are very heavy for what they are.

Don't buy any of it, I wear the tights with padding and I have a waterproof jacket and both are less than average, the padding is like felt but they do keep you warm, the jacket feels like its made of plastic it's stiff and makes you sweat after 2 mins, look at DHB stuff from wiggle its a little more expensive but so much better.

Most cheap waterproof jackets are slow commute only. Its also why people accept more breathable shower proof ones.

And padding is personal. I got told that my perfect(Aldi or Lidl I forget) winter long bibs do not have enough padding.
