i have a bit, its fine for starting out, the stitching often isnt the best on bib short/tights. both split...... a quick restitch and theyre great. i've done over 1000 miles in the shorts, longest being 66miles and found padding ok but it is there elite stuff which are around £30 a pair

I got the Muddy Fox cycling shorts as I was strapped for cash. For £9 they do the job for now but I don't expect them to last long once I get out on regular cycle runs. But hey, who knows?
My son has had two pair for several months and, although the padding has deteriorated a bit, he says they are still comfortable. He washes them in Fairy Non Bio soap powder which he says helps.

I tried a couple of bits lured in during a 'sale'. All of it went back. The bloke behind the counter was not the least bit bothered and it looked like the range did more miles in a plastic bag than on a bike.

What is everyones opinion of the Muddyfox range of cycle clothing sold at sports direct. Is it good value for money fo rsomeone like myself who is new to the hobby or is it money best saved for garments of more quality?

I bought some when starting out, I didn't know where else to go. I'd say if you didn't know any better, then its functional if basic kit that wont harm you, but as your here and can see some of the recommendations for alternatives (Aldi/Lidl if they have an event, Decathalon if not) there are better 'budget' kit shops out there.

One thing I will say although I bought their clothes, I wouldn't have touched the accessories (pumps, lights etc) for love nor money even when starting - it just looks cheap and nasty. And the less said about the pound shop pump I tried once the better!

It is fine if you are getting started and don't know if you are going to stick with it. Once the bug has bitten hard, then it is time to ditch it and get something better, something that will be more comfortable and last longer. I bought some of their stuff last November and wore it religiously until about six weeks ago when I got passed to me a pair of Ronhill padded shorts and a pair of Bikesters, totally different league.

As folks say its low to mid range,however in its defence i use it daily for my commute (bib tights,and jerseys).They have been excellent,no problems at all and we have a shop locally so i can try them on.I do have a top range jacket though.

Decathlon are better and still affordable.

Their shorts are fantastic value and i use the basic 3 rated shorts for short rides and the 5 rated stuff for club runs/long rides and the padding and fit is excellent compared to similarly priced muddyfox stuff.
I do have a couple of MF tops but they are more for winter .
Do not be fooled by the rrp prices on the website as the sale price is about what they are worth, i do have a pair of their shoes and they are ok for the price.Aldi /lidl do good tops and various kit but i found the shorts to be very hit and miss with sizing .
Tried Tenn shorts and i either got a mislabeld pair or the sizing is off as even going a size up they were so tight on my legs it cut lines into my thighs and the padding was hardly worth putting in as it was so thin.

Basic stuff - I'd suggest avoid it unless there's no alternative, which there always is.

Tenn's is a bit better, as is Aldi's or DHB.

On the subject of cheap stuff I had a grease inspired road fall Sunday
I have the biggest ever scab on my arm and bloodied knees too.

I just washed the blood from my Lidl long bibs and Aldi shell.
Amazingly they are still near pristine so top marks for Aldi and Lidl stuff.
I think they saved me from lots of painful gravel scrubbing at the hospital.

Thanks for all the input some really good points to take on board, I think i may try some then once payday comes around invest in something of a better quality. Im a bit of a gear hoarder anyway so it will always be good to have spares
