Went out and bought these as they were cheap, had a small reflector on the back and looked as good as the more expensive ones. They were plastic so very light.

Tried the other night to install them but realised there were no instructions. Now mudguards are not usually the hardest things to install, but these come with plastic clippy bits. ;) Went to the website and suprised to see no mention of these particular guards.

I think I'm going to have to bodge it with some spare bike bolts (unless anyone has installed the Trekking type and knows how)

are they the dirt monkey ones?

they're really fiddley, requiring the bending of the stays and also cutting to be the correct length

the clippy things need to be slid along the length of the guard until in the correct point.

of course, this only applies if we're on about the same guards, any chance you'd be able to put some pics up of them?

Nah they're not the dirt monkey ones. These are the Trekking ones.

I could fit them with some extra bolts I reckon, but the places in town had sold out of the short ones. Must go to cycle world instead.

The clippy bits are designed to hold the stays on the mudguard eyes.
Theory is, they'll break off if something jams, rather than pitching you over in front of a lorry.

Hmm... had to give up on it today. I think I've bought mudguards that are too small. I'll keep them for racing style tyres/spares and I think I'll just book the bike in the shop and let the lads there install a set.
