Just watched "When We Were Kings" and "Rumble In The Jungle", spine tingling watching him against Foreman and such amazing hand speed.
Even the people in his own dressing room expected him to be seriously injured or worse.
Out of the five iconic sportsman of my growing up years he is top( Carl Fogarty, Ayrton Senna, Greg Lemond and Gary Lineker being the others).
This thread is about probably the most famous boxer, if not sportsman, the world has ever seen. A great man.

Not about another gallant but likeable British boxer, who wasn't quite good enough to reach the top. Possibly also a great man, but for other reasons.
It's relevant in the discussion of the life of a boxer to mention those people he fought. It's also relevant to analyse controversial comments by imagining them made by people in different positions, eg comments on race made by a white Briton as opposed to a black American.
