I think the practicality of the VW Beetle is an urban myth, too. The engine's in the boot, the fuel tank's in the bonnet: where does the luggage go? If you want to do anything other than transport four (luggageless) people a short distance, Beetles are useless.

Anyone remember the Ronnie Corbett monologue about the lady who's VW Beetle had broken down? To summarise, as it actually goes on for about five minutes, another lady says "I can let you have another engine if yours is broken, I've got a spare one in the boot" :tongue:

I know this from experience, the old man had one.

On the rear-seat passengers laps, some in the front seat passengers footwell.

Maybe some more stuffed between the front and rear seats. Take out the bag of sand that was stored under the "bonnet" to improve the handling and you could stick some in there too.
