I do a lot of work with air freight on roller bed trailers; 4 aircraft pallets fill a trailer. I have seen photos of what happens when that goes wrong, and an aircraft pallet comes out the back of the trailer when there is no forklift there to catch it . Can't find any on-line, but I'm sure they must be hiding somewhere.

A lorry carrying cases of spirits spilled its load on the A19 a few years ago.

Several firefighters and coppers were arrested on suspicion of theft after slightly scuffed bottles of whisky were found in a fire engine and in the boot of a police car.

When I worked in a factory we used to move heavy loads inside trailers using a hand pallet truck. Our fork lift driver used to put the pallets just inside the trailer and then they would be moved up the trailer by someone else.

One time, the truck driver had decoupled his truck and gone off to pick up another load elsewhere. leaving a trailer behind for us to load.

The man doing the loading inside the trailer was in a bit of a hurry and did not distribute the load properly resulting in the trailer tipping down onto the far end! Fortunately, he had been pushing the pallet truck towards the other end at the time, rather than pulling it so he ended up on top of the load rather than being crushed by it!

It was a bit scary hearing the commotion in front of the factory and running out to find the trailer tipped up like that ...

One of the reasons why, in certain places, the driver must deposit his keys with the transport office before they will start any work. Some go even further and make you disconnect the air line from the trailer (meaning it cannot be moved), chock trailer wheels, AND apply trailer brake! Then they won't let you sit in your cab, but insist on making you share a grubby waiting room with several other drivers. No names mentioned - Tesco/Amazon .
