Update
Mum had 2 minor strokes in the balance part of the brain, had an eye test today and she has lost vision in her right eye but we are not sure if thats because of the stroke or just old age as she has diabetes and has been having a number of incidents when parking her car .
She managed to get to the loo with a zimmer frame and has eaten today without being sick.
Mum did say they are talking of transferring her to convalesce in the local home , we are now going to get together before she comes out to discuss options of where to go next dependent on how much she recovers obviously with her consent .
Mum has already said she is going to stop driving, there's the free bus and we live close enough to take her out / pop in as as when .

Looks nice but, if you get the chance, visit. Just count how many staff you see (and assume that most of the beds will be full) and have a good sniff. You can often tell a good care home by the way it smells. That may sound daft but my sister, who has worked in them most of her working life, will tell you it's true.
MIL had a neighbour in there she used to visit , i will ask .
