Did my longest ride today 84miles, couldn't do the 100 though my legs got cramp and couldn't get rid of it.

Still positive news beat my 20 miler = 58 mins
40 miles = 2 hrs ish forgot my time:blush:
100k = 3 hrs 27
84 miles = 5 hours, average 16.8
And very windy, but i think i'm better/like the 40 miler...:smile: much easier

Glad im doing the 50 miler at sevenoaks:biggrin::biggrin:

I am surprised with a fireman's quite specific requirement to have stamina and an excellent level of fitness - both CV and strength, you are struggling so........

Nice I think I'm built for sprints, too much time spent in the gym.

well we wouldnt want too many instances of you being the first there and then too knackered to do anything more ...;) but we do expect our emergency services to be superheroes!
I know you guys are fit.... you lot seem to moonlight a lot and one I knew, took Spinning classes.. .. his tuition skills were less than subtle... full on "work you 'fat bastards'" was mainly his class mantra.... he seemed to get away with it

OK, I think maybe you can post outside Beginners now...

Blimey, that's fast.

Personally, I find it baffling. You can't possibly see much at that pace, or fit in any decent tea stops....

Each to their own, I suppose....xx(

Still, for about 5 mins I bask in having done a 100miler. Until you go out again and top that....xx(

Had pasta 2 hours before and gel every 20 miles and raisan bars 10 miles and water of course, I think it was the wind that wiped me out.

Any tips on food??

I hear fruit loaf and similar cakes are a nice snack, but as with football and other sports I dont see why jaffa cakes wouldnt work. You seem to be preparing fine simon so maybe you were just pushing to hard, lactic acid build-ups maybe?

Warmup routine, salt levels I dunno.

They contain potassium i know this aids in blood pressure but not so sure they help with cramps. Great for energy though!
