I've made pastry thins morning to go with the batch of mincemeat I cooked last night, so I'm sitting down munching on a mince pie and drinking my coffee. My first home made mince pie of the season!

right the sourdough dipping bread is out of the oven and the apple butter has gone into it. The onion chutney is in the jars and all I need to do now is make our evening meal so that the dippy bread can be dipped into something and sterilise another set of jars ready for when the apple butter comes out of the oven in 2-3 hours time!
I'm knackered and I still have to price up a new iPod for my OH - the connector on his is failing, pick a selection of photos for the calendar for next year and work out how one obtains routine medication in Australia.

Hmm I'm having a go at beetroot chutney for the first time ever (chutney first time), and so far I'm not convinced.... Seems far too liquid!

the cooking times are usually way off. Last night I was still trying to dry out my onion chutney at 8pm! I started chopping onions at around 12pm and started cooking it around 2pm I think.
The apple chutney will probably still be cooking at 8pm tonight as well!
Which reminds me I need to work out what 225F is in gas mark...

answer is below the ability of my oven. Gas 2 will have to do. (Gas 1 is useless and blows out way too often and I don't think it drying out and burning is going to be a huge problem anytime soon)
