The workmen have had to down tools, rather than decapitate 100's of children!

Redwings and Fieldfares have arrived in numbers now, must be in their hundreds up at the orchards surrounding here now. Been out for a walk to to take in the sights, they're harvesting the apples up there now too.

Is there something on Autumn watch (BBC) website where you can report the appearance of Redwings / Fieldfares ?

You know, life still takes place even if you don't photograph it sometimes. Today I just watched with binoculars and was happy.
I find I'm sometimes too addicted to taking photos so watch through the view finder of a camera rather than enjoying what is in front of me! It's a hard habit to break.

I don't always take the camera out with me.

It was a pretty dismal and damp day anyway, light levels were low and very little contrast was to be had, fast enough shutter speeds would have been at the expense of ISO and therefore quality, colours would be muted and would have needed boosting afterwards in post.... so better to forget that and see what is going on anyway.

I've had a few mornings when I have regretted not at least having the phone with me, but as you say, seeing whatever it is means more and sticks with you just as long as a digital photo that gets lost amongst others and eventually forgotten anyway.

But I'd have a phone with me.... So there would still be the temptation to take a photo.
