Had new eyeglasses ordered yesterday, after a marathon session with eye doctor and frames fellow. New ones make me look much younger, as my old ones are about 10 years old. Haven't needed prescription change before now. Left eye has gone quite downhill, just in the past year, last time I was examined.

One eye on the pot?

I wish all it would take was change of glasses to improve my looks

I have a large paper bag you could borrow.

Diet's going well then;) Sounds nice ... though not sure what cheese pie is... in my head I'm thinking macaroni cheese or a cheese puff? I've just managed to look over the mince pies sitting near by to the fruit bowl further away ... but those mince pies are calling!!!!

It's worth moving north just for cheese pie! Especially home made. (I grew up in Winchester but have lived here for all my adult life.)

So what is it?

There are probably lots of variations and I got my recipe from an old Good Housekeeping cookbook.

I make it in a traditional pie dish. Shortcrust pastry base and lid. Filling : 6oz grated cheddar mixed with an onion that has been finely chopped and boiled in salted water then drained, a beaten egg and salt and pepper. Baked at 180°C for 30 mins until golden.

Delicious hot or cold.

I expect an onion free cheese pie would also be lovely. I bet the CC pie expert will have the answer.
Calling @vernon.
