I walked to the village shop for 8.30 only to find it was 9.00am opening so returned empty handed.
I'm alright, I prefer my coffee black but I think Mrs ID will be sending me for another walk very soon.

Alcohol emergencies are indeed rare. I hate to think of any situation where the meths in the shed are the last thing left.

We have emergency milk in the freezer... but we have more than one

I never have alcohol emergencies. Due to several years of wine making I have enough stashed away to see me through pretty much anything. I could even make an attempt on one batch that has never cleared... I have some finings somewhere in the cupboard.

Your mistake was last night, not going them for emergency supplies! It's quicker for me to walk to the Coop than to defrost some milk. And luckily they are open all the hours I would want some milk

And when it isn't open it would be fine to substitute alcohol! I have sufficient supplies not to worry there!

Could you not have sawn the emergency one in two and only used half of it?
