Newboulds must have come and gone since I left Darlington for Leeds in 1977. Taylors' were the pie of choice and Darlo folk still swear by them - until the taste the ones from Boroughbridge, Ripon or Bedale that I arrive with. Once a pie maker moves to industrial scale production, like Taylors have done, the quality of the pie nearly always suffers.

Newboulds have a large presence in Teeside and a head office in Hurworth but no presence in Darlington. I'll have to nip over to Middlesborough or Stokesley sometime.
Ah. It did have an 'u' I almost put it in
But they still exist ??? :hyper::hyper:

They used to sell me them frozen (pre-cooked) so I could take them away in bulk

I'll be in Lewis and Coopers later this morning where I can but Wensleydale, Coverdale and Swaledale cheese. In fact I just might do that.

I've just learned that the girl lost on Ben Nevis since Sunday was a climbing friend of my niece. It's a climbing family based in Calgary, ex-pat Brit dad, exactly like my brother's family. Snow conditions are so unstable - 2 of the mountain rescue guys got hit by avalanches - that they can't get there by land. The thought of them freezing to death if an avalanche didn't blow them off the mountain has left me feeling quite haunted. I don't tend to get morbid but this is an exception.

Just had a male Sparrow Hawk drinking from the bird bath..it flew as i was about to take a pic..
Looks like my bird population will be thinned out over the next few days...
No pic no proof, unlike the one I spotted just a few minutes ago, at least @Hill Wimp told me it was a sparrow hawk
