I was explaining to my wife something I found quite profound and beyond my comprehension, something which makes you realise the insignificance of us....
A fast radio burst has been detected from a distant galaxy....6 billion light years away.
6 billion light years ...(there should really be a 'jaw dropping' emoticon)...thats 6 trillion miles travelled every year for 6 BILLION years .

That fact blows my mind...my wifes reaction.......mundane probably describes It quite well. Its not everyones cup of tea after all.

It's the one that states that there are more stars in the known Universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches in the World that gets me.

And a weird one. The Universe is incredibly large, however humanity is part of the Universe and we know the Universe exists. That means the Universe is self aware, it knows it is a Universe.
