She got her front wheel stuck between two paving slabs on her commute home via the Regents Canal. The bike flipped and she went over the bars.........that was 27 months ago. She's back on the bike and two weeks ago did the Ride Through The Night 100k for cancer.......(and that is another story).
I am glad she is back on her bike. The 100km ride was that the one in Windsor ? I am aiming for that next year.

All the best for Mrs Rocky... She'll need it with those feet that forever seem to be sticking out ready to trip her up round the house!:giggle:

Not now - but she'd just recovered from the broken bones etc when she was diagnosed (exactly a year ago) with breast cancer. She's had another 3 ops, 3 months of chemo and is still on herceptin. The good news is that the prognosis is excellent and her last checkup gave her the all clear.

The last 27 months haven't been a bundle of laughs - but the future looks good.
Good news indeed. Her basic fitness must be good if she's already back on her bike doing 100km rides.

Mean!!!!!!

Why does my boss feel the need to come in at 2 minutes to 5 and say - 'Nicky can you just'

I do know that feeling. I was asked to show someone how to use my ordering system on my last day & it took until after I was due to leave!

I however, hate towpaths! Stupidly I thought I would meander along gently, no, it was wet, muddy, bumpy and slippy. Not nice!

Towpaths are the only flat route out of town that isn't crammed with traffic for me. They're very bumpy & muddy around here.

Yes - Windsor to The Aldwych and back. It looked fab and really inspiring. She rode with another friend, also recovering from breast cancer.

She must be so proud of herself to complete that.

My dad has leukemia and I had a breast cancer scare last year so the more money raised the better.

I think Miles Jupp is doing a sterling job, it can't be easy taking over from Sandi with her doing it for so long but he has made it his own.
He has indeed. He used to make me laugh when he was on it before.

I am also looking forward to Sandi taking over from Stephen Fry on QI.

Yep, we've got a couple of spots like that. And of course the lumps of concrete sticking up.

It's a great event. I arrived at 4.30am to pick up the two of them and I was so inspired by the people finishing, including two women on hand-powered recumbents. The camaraderie was unbelievable - it was an example of everything that is good about cycling.

Fingers crossed for your father, I hope he keeps well
He is doing well at the moment. His strain is very slow progressing. He has has a couple of rounds of chemo so they are hoping he should not need any more for a couple of years.
