Thanks for the star information, I think I was expecting the southern cross to be grander in scale. It's still amazing ow many you can see though. So what are the tips for producing a photo like that as I would love to try that myself.

As for the unpacking ..... That will keep you busy, though it's annoying you don't know what is in each box!is the track going to be OK to cycle on?

Tips... Er. Plenty of time on your hands, it needs to be dark... Probably ought to be the first tip really.... Moon must not be out, so new moon or as I have it at the moment, the moon has not risen. Large aperture (F/1.8 end), longer exposure, tripod hopefully, ideally mirror lock up or timer count down so the camera is stable before it takes the photo... Oh, and wrap up warm, it'll be cold out there!

The track, well cycling it is the only way in going to have transport... Mountain bike or my tourer i think will be best...

G15? They're pretty good. Did you use the timer? No tripod. were they hand held?

Perhaps the 'Cross' would be more apparent with shorter exposure?

Just read your post in Photography thread, not G15.

I'm on the Canon powershot G7X now. Much more a landscape powershot than anything else. Great little camera tbh.

Stunning photos @SatNavSaysStraightOn , who knew there were that many stars :whistle: Did all your stuff arrive OK in the end or did I miss that bit?

I think I can remember Carl Sagan saying many years ago that there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on all of the beaches in the world.
It seems to put it in to perspective.

The most mundane thing I can say is that the recycling here in the holiday flat doesn't take glass, just tins and plastics so we'll have to take it with us to the supermarket.

Most nights have been cloudy here so we've not seen many stars yet.
@SatNavSaysStraightOns pictures look amazing.
