They're used on part of the Quantocks for the same reason. As you say, proper coos. (Though I also like Jerseys.)The one in the centre of the shot then wandered over to another couple having a picnic and tried to make friends with their two dogs. The dogs were not impressed and looked very timid. The cattle are grazed on Beacon Hill as part of a land management scheme to maintain it as it has been for the last thousand years, they keep the bracken down and prevent trees establishing.
